This shirt pattern from Style Arc, a new pattern company based in Melbourne, Australia, is a neat fit and would have been too tight in the hips if I had not taken in only half the very wide front vertical darts to allow more ease.
The shirt has a yoke and vertical darts, front and back, for shape. It also features folded front bands and pleated cuffs with a placket (although I used a faced slit instead as it is less laborious).
The top button is placed unusually high. I moved it down but should have moved it even further. The neck is not quite right whether the top button is fastened or left open. The collar is small and neat - too small for me. Next time I would redraft it somewhat.
The overall length is just right. This garment is wearable, although I am not totally happy with it, and the next one will be even better.
I have now made this shirt a size bigger to achieve a more relaxed fit. The difference between sizes is only slight, and I stitched a wider seam allowance (15mm instead of 1cm) and also achieved a better fit. The fabric is Liberty of London's Eloise in turquoise and green.
