I have made this shirtdress pattern in a black cotton poplin from Hawaiian Fabric (www.hawaiianfabric.com). This fabric has been in my stash for at least five years; its vertical design suits the long lines of this dress. I made view B but shortened the sleeves and the dress as well to make it mid-calf length rather than above the ankle (although it might still be too long). Like all Palmer-Pletsch patterns, this one is a comprehensive fitting tutorial and includes instructions for making popular alterations (e.g. full bust adjustment, high round back). The neck opening is deep, and the top button position might be better raised 2cm/1in. Front facings will sit better if slip-stitched in place unobtrusively between the bust and the neck, and between the bottom button and the hem. This dress is rather formal for me; it should be good for book launchings and summer funerals.
