Oman - Weekend in an oasis





A group of us meant to spend the weekend in Iran, but somehow none of us could get our act together when it came to Iranian visa requirements.

So instead, we went off for a weekend in Oman.

These were taken in a remote desert town, Nizwa. It's an area virtually untouched by tourism, and has a remote and rugged beauty, ranging from canyons to wadis. Life here is like something from another world, a place and way of life almost incomprehensible to me. It was like stepping into another time, another world and another culture. The people in Nizwa may not be rich in material wealth, but are rich in kindness and grace.

With thanks to Phil, the Jordanian visa champion, Benoit, the search and rescue service, and Arwa, the linguistic expert, for making this such a fun trip. It is not often that one walks in 40 degree heat and still manages to have a good time out of it.

What a wonerful diverse world we share . This typeof work shows it off at it's best .Interesting trip would be an understatement . I have noted the spot and will endeavour to go there just because you chose to share , so thank you .
You mentioned no material wealth but a much more important wealth . The more I meet people that have less the more I come across their true selves full of sharing ,compassion and other fine human trates .
