Nan is about 50km from the Laos border. We spent five days temple hopping and bicycling in this relatively untouristed area.
We cycled to outlying wats and into the countryside
Sometimes it was good to take a break from all the elaborate wats
While the more famous and visited wats are beautiful, the less famous and quieter temples could also be special.
We cycled (and walked up the steeper hills!) to a wat overlooking Nan
An elegant Buddha watched over the town
Back in Nan, we admired a gold "chedi" supported by elephants on all sides
