We took a helicopter ride into a spectacular area of New Zealand's south island. The weather conditions do not always permit the trip to happen. We waited for a day and our flight was the last one to do a full circuit when it did take off. The trip was both thrilling and quite emotional as the pilot flew between jagged mountains and over massive glaciers
This photo shows New Zealand's highest peak, Mt. Cook.

The helicopter landed high up on one of the glaciers. We didn't have as much time there as we would have liked. We needed to scramble back into the helicopter when the clouds started closing in.

The weather can change very quickly in this area. It made our flight all the more special.

Words and photos can't begin to do justice to this experience.
