MinyaKastamonu

MinyaKastamonu is an upcoming “Cultural and Nature Park” near the city-center of Kastamonu. The original idea prompted the conglomeration of many different buildings together in one area during the time of the immediate past Governor of Kastamonu: Enis Yeter. This Park began for construction in 2002 by bringing original buildings from many districts in Kastamonu. The Cide Mosque was disassembled in its original place in Cide on the Black Sea coast and brought here to this Park and re-assembled. Another interesting one is the Azdvay house. One can even see the numbering system of the craftsmen painted on the lumber to be able to re-assemble in its original form. All of these life-size vernacular homes/konaks/garden houses reflect the rich heritage of Kastamonu. The construction will continue shortly with a grant obtained from a Regional Development fund. These life-size structures brought together to make this Culture and Nature Park reminds us similar but smaller in scale structures of the MiniaTurk like in Istanbul or Antalya—and hence the name: MinyaKastamonu.
