India

For years I wasn't really interested to go to India due to its high crime rate and the hygiene issues, Besides, I also wouldn't feel comfortable to visit a country where some people still own hundreds of slaves, and some people were born to be slaves throughout generations. After hesitating for a long time, I signed up for a tour of India venturing to take some photos with different background. I was glad I went. The architecture in India is magnificent. The historical forts, palaces, mausoleums, mosques and temples have a lot to offer for sightseeing and photography. Many of these places that I visited, are listed as UNESCO sites. The wisdom of the Indians were highly demonstrated in their architectural wonders built centuries ago. But sadly, these buildings, most of which lavishly decorated, are at the same time reflections of their extreme social inequality.

I had a remarkable tour guide, Alok. He spoke perfect English, and was very knowledgeable of the history and culture of his own country. I could see the pride in his eyes when he explained the details of their inventions and designs. As a result of our respect for him, no one in my tour group had the heart to mention a word about brain drain, which is a serious problem on the rise in this country. I wish that if I have a chance to revisit India, I'd see a narrower gap between the rich and the poor.
