On March 3, 2005, my third day of attempting to get photos of this extraordinarily gorgeous bird, I was successful,
although at quite a distance.There have been 22 documented sightings of the Northern Lapwing in the US.
This incident was the first for the state of Maryland. Sighting accepted by the
Maryland Ornithological Society, 10/01/2006, Report# MD/2005-012
