I've only recently become mildly interested in Facebook. I don't feel the need to post regular status updates but I value the opportunities it gives to contact people with whom you've lost touch. I've chatted to an old school friend living in Germany, renewed correspondence with a Norwegian friend who lived in the States and has recently returned to her native country, and I've exchanged updates with my sisters-in-law about the relative snowfalls in Ireland and Manchester (they were unimpressed by our paltry amount). And of course, I can also chat with friends from Pbase.
I noticed today that people were being asked to use an old photograph of themselves for their profile pic so I thought I'd join in. Naturally this is an extremely low-tech reproduction of an old photograph of me as a toddler showing an early interest in the world of newspapers. (Why didn't I stick with my original ambition of marrying a farmer with a hundred cows? I sometimes wonder.)
