If someone had told me twenty years ago that I would happily devote a day of my precious holidays walking
around a home furnishing store, I would never have believed them. Yet, the new IKEA store in Dublin was the destination for my friend and myself this morning. We set off after dropping our kids at school and arrived early, too early in fact, and had to wait half an hour for the store to open. Once inside we made a beeline for the coffee shop and were immediately impressed with the price - I can't remember the last time I paid just €1 for a cup of coffee.
I was an IKEA newbie so I hadn't realised how vast the store is - or how affordable the whole range of products are.
We wandered around the roomsets, exclaiming when something particularly nice or particularly good value caught our eye, and eventually loaded our trolleys in the 'Market Hall'.
Good quality eye-catching design never looked so good - or so affordable. Although I'm more of a 'Laura Ashley' type person (in my defense we do live in an old farmhouse), there was plenty on offer to tempt me. After walking around for two hours, we realised it was time to head home and we didn't even have time to sample the famous Swedish meatballs.

Ours is adjacent to the airport ... so we can pretend we are going on vacation, spend time browsing pretend furniture, even perhaps with some pretend food! LOL!

I'm pleased you got out alive, people go into those twisty winding isles and never return, sacrificed to the great God Ikea, its true honest.

Love the combination of yellow and blue. Can't say the same about the shopping experience....

Nice shot!! Ikea's nice to visit and gawk, but when you are shopping for something specific, it gets to be a bit of a hassle. Store is too big and often, too many people. Next time, try the meatballs!!

I like the wander through an Ikea store too... Just the one circuit thought... miss the exit and your doomed to go around one more time.

Try the Swedish Meatballs...the 10 acres here almost requires a cut lunch & spike boots to get through beginning to end...but coffee to begin with does help :)

But did you try the Swedish chocolate with caramel pieces?

The best thing about Ikea is all the free little pencils you get as you walk round, cant resist picking one up from every stand, last me all year, great colouful sharp shot.

I always load up on batteries, candles and lightbulbs at IKEA. And have lunch and coffee... Oh, the picture frames are really nice for photos, black wooden ones with passepartous, with a silly name I cant remember.
And if you buy your Christmas ornaments AFTER Christmas they´re often 50% off! And I can assamble a Billy-bookcase in 20 minutes ;o)

You certainly know how to holiday ;o)) Ikea stuff is ok, it's just the stoopid names I can't cope with!!
