The Yeni Valide Camii, often claimed to have been built between 1708-1710 by Ahmet III and dedicated to his mother the Valide Rabia Gülnüş Ümmettullah, in reality built under her own orders. "The mosque itself is in the classical style at its very last gasps and before the baroque influence had come to liven it up."(Strolling through Istanbul; Redhouse). Gasping it may be, but it's a fine complex that I visit every time I'm near. It has a nice garden and courtyard away from the busy traffic outside.
