Etar or Etara (the same thing)
Named after the old name of the Yantra River - Etar is an Ethnographic open air museum situated
8 km south of Gabrovo's center. (Gabrovo is a very long town along a river). The complex was open in 1964 - the preliminary design and key project work are credited to Lazar Donkov (1908-1976). The exhibition shows in a lively presentation, with the participation of craftsmen and animators,
the architecture, ethnography, folklore, the older crafts, traditional cuisine, the home interiors
and the costumes in Gabrovo and its region from the Renaissance - 18/19th century.
The exhibition includes 47 places of interest, trade workshops and water driven facilities.
Represented crafts: Bakery, Braid making, Confectionery, Carving (wood), Copper smithery,
Flour milling, Cowbell making, Flute making, Furriery, Gold smithery, Icon painting, Pottery,Turnery .... etc.
