Eared Grebe 04_17_05.jpg

Wanda and I spent a little time at a nearby pond watching little Eared Grebes catch insects. They are such a funny looking but pretty little bird.

Here is another Eared Grebe taken late yesterday afternoon.

Yep, looks like the 300mm has found a home on the 20D and in your hands. Seems to be working too! Nice bird shots!

Wanda, I am just teasing. I know when Bill made the comment he meant he prefers to shoot the big mammals than songbirds. I would call these waterfowl somewhere in between. The results of the 300mm with 2x EX are amazing.

Steve, I am thinking maybe Bill is enjoying the birds a bit more right now because it's spring and there are so many to enjoy AND he now has a better lens to shoot with than he did last year. Just My humble opinion of course.

very nicely captured

Great capture Bill. Now I will have to point out that you once said you did not particularily like taking pics of birds. Your PAD is 17 images old and 6 are of birds... that is a little more than 35% . Keep up the great bird pics.

Great set of birds!

That is one cool cat -- er, bird. I've never seen one of those beggars before. Wonderful image; I especially like the circular ripples in the water. Looks like the bird lightly pecked the water just for you.

They're all nice shots....I agree, the Grebe is a pretty odd duck....pun intended. ;-) Thanks for the picture of the Coots, as well....I'm pretty sure these are what I've been seeing here, too, and I didn't know what they are. Now that I have a starting place, I can find more information about them.

Especially nice colors.

Nice shot, Bill. I really like the color in the water and the reflection. That lens is sharp!
