Young Great Horned Owl. Handheld, no flash. ISO 1600 at 1/13 seconds.

Ottawa, Ontario. Canada

Aperture-Priority, f/5.6, 1/13s, ISO 1600. 135mm. No noise-reduction applied. Did some cloning out on catch-lights.

Photographed at Ottawa Wildbird Care Centre. This is one of two baby Great Horned Owls at the centre. Both were later released back into the wild.

Great shot. Love the eyes. Owls in general are beautiful birds, too bad I have never seen one here in The Netherlands...

I am happy with how this image came out. Resizing an image can make it look sharper but I think this one came out quite good straight from camera. A tip for low shutter speeds is to take a few continuous shots. This will improve your odds of getting a sharp one in the bunch.

As perfect as the shot is I never would have guessed those settings.
