This photo was taken in the early afternoon and the Boreal Owl is normally not quite this awake during daylight hours as it hunts at night. However, in this case it had been flushed out by a Long-eared owl, one of many that inhabit the Owl woods on Amherst Island and found this new hiding place. It was very much awake and alert as you can tell by the open shape of its eyes.
Aperture-Priority, f/5.6, 1/320, ISO 800 at 400mm.
