We were visiting friends in Las Cruces and I just drove up to White Sands for the day. Arriving early afternoon, normally the sun would be blindingly bright and photos very difficult. However, on this day, it was partially overcast so much of the time there was relatively weak sunlight and shadows providing some good photo opportunities. Unfortunately, the clouds also meant there was no good late day / sunset possibilites. Note the time stamp on the photos is two hours later than the actual time because I forgot to change time when I arrived from the eastern time zone.
Recent heavy rains filled the depressions between the sand dunes with water.
Photos with Canon 30D (17-40 f4 and 70-200 f4) and Sony H-5 cameras.
