Boarder

My first attempt to meet the Totally Informal Transglobal Thursday Challenge.
Today it's "Breaking the (Compositional) Rules"
Rules broken? Wonky horizon and subject leaving the frame.
Thanks to my son, Michael, (cracked rib and all), for helping me out.

Canon EOS 5D
1/5000s f/4.5 at 70.0mm iso125 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Excellent shot! The wonky horizon actually adds interest and so does the subject leaving the frame. V.

Welcome to the challenge and you already blew me off with this superbly timed action shot! I really like your choice of composition and selective focus. Minimalistic yet powerful. He's about to slide and jump out of your frame! Very cool and voted.

On this one you get a vote from me as well. It's the best broken rule shot I've seen so far.

Your comp breaks 'traditional' rules but works here. A very nice entry.
Guest 12-Oct-2006 20:42
Cool shot. I like the comp as it includes the shadow, and the crop highlights how high he's jumping. V

I'm definitely one of those who sees this as a wonderfully composed shot! GMV

This is excellent. There have been two ways of approaching today. I did a deliberately awful shot, but you have really succeeded. You have got the rule of thirds and the focusing fine, and the angle adds to the dynamism.
Voted.
