Pale-winged Starling

(onychognathus nabouroup)
The Pale-winged Starling is endemic to SW Africa. Its name derives from its whitish patches on the primary wing feathers which are visible only in flight. At rest it just looks all black and glossy. It is a common resident in rocky arid areas. This bird was photographed by the granite rock caves on the track behind Spitzkoppe.
