Blue Crane

(anthropoides paradiseus)
The Blue Crane is endemic to Southern Africa. Its bulbous head gives it a curious shape; the long trailing 'tail' is actually elongated inner secondary and tertial feathers. These birds were photographed early one morning at Fisher's Pan just a short distance from Namutoni Camp, Etosha National Park.
