Goldcrest

(regulus regulus)
The Goldcrest is the smallest bird in Scotland, even smaller than a Wren. Despite its tiny size and insect eating habit it is a resident bird managing to live through even the coldest winters. The winter population is swelled by the arrival of Scandinavian migrants.
