The Bluethroat is an uncommon migrant in Scotland. It breeds mostly in northern Europe in damp areas of willows and birches. The photos here are of a female, or possibly a juvenile male, bird which turned up for a day in the garden behind the school house on Fair Isle. I had almost given up waiting for the bird as the light was fading when it suddenly popped up right in front of me on the pallet fence.
