Gannet

(morus bassanus)
The Gannet, or more correctly the Northern Gannet, is a large sea bird which nests in huge colonies along the sea cliffs in Scotland. It has a spectacular feeding style of plunge diving often from a considerable height. There were several birds in the channel crossed by the ferry to Unst.
