Ceremonial hall

This is said to be one of the most beautiful ceremonial halls of all Hungarian Baroque castles. Crystal mirrors hang on both sides of the hall, reflecting one another and creating the illusion of an infinite place. In the fresco on the ceiling, "The Triumph of Apollo," by J. I. Mildorfer, it's said that wherever you are in the room, the four horses appear to be running towards you. In the time of Prince Nicholas "the Magnificent" this was the most important cultural center in the country. The orchestra that played here was conducted by Joseph Haydn, and some of his most famous works had their premiere in this room, including the "Farewell Symphony." The windows and doors look into the Concert Hall http://www.pbase.com/helenpb/image/142140479.

There are classical music concerts here in the summer, from June to September.

By sheer coincidence, I just finished listening to some Haydn, and now I see that he conducted an orchestra in this glittering, gilded, confection of a room. V

Very nice interior shot of this opulent room full of rich details. The "Farewell Symphony" No. 45 in F sharp, is a great choice as an example because of the stories associated with it. "V"

This is the most amazingly beautiful room. Do they ever have concerts there? It would be wonderful to hear the music of Haydn played there again.
A very fine shot. V
