It was an actual openly gambling casino till sometime in the late 1940's, I think. My father said that there were many such places until a Senator Kefoffer (not sure of the spelling) cracked-down on such open violations of prohibited gambling.

Does anyone remember the Sunny Isles Casino that was on the southeast side of this bridge. The old wood-frame building later became a fine dining restaurant called??? it was there up until sometime in the 1990's
