Bigfoot

Cold Bay, AK

After our campout breakfast, Steve Bishop and I explored Navy Town. We found bear prints just inside the entrance to a Quonset hut only a couple of doors down from where we had stayed the night. We weren't too surprised to find prints, because we knew there were bears in the neighborhood. After all, we had fished with them that morning. Of course, the bears had been on the other side of the creek! When we discovered the prints, I placed my boot, size eleven, next to them to show the comparative size. Those particular prints must have been from a youngster. They weren't nearly as large as others that I had seen. Nevertheless, I was struck by the depth of the print. I weighed in the neighborhood of 190 pounds, and left an impression nowhere near that deep.
