memories

Not how I imagined this shot, but I was trying for multiple memories.

Before I started building operating live steam engines, I had a basement full of (electric) HO trains. The layout has been gone for years, but I still have a case on the wall of some of my favorite models. Each one brings back memories.

Chasing N&W 611 with my wife in tow gave her an appreciation for trains. 611 became her favorite locomotive and of course, I had to have a model of it.

One of my heavy electrics was purchased at a national train convention in Pittsburgh Pa. My wife and I vacationed there with another couple - good times (and not just trains :)

A wood snowplow and passenger car built by my Dad in the 1950's.

Etc.

This is simply marvelous. I love your story too. My dad is a huge railfan/photog and I spent hours and hours out chasing down trains with him. I understand the passion. Oh... and funny coincidence, I grew up in Pittsburgh!

Great collection! I had HO scale and my brothers had Lionel... Lots of fun to play with. Last time I got to play with trains was at the H.O.R.D.E. Festival, Neil Young had his train set up and I spent more time playing with them than listening to the music! Very nice memories! I think HO are more realistic looking, Do you set up tracks around a tree at Christmas time?
