Goldfinch

Murfreesboro,TN

This guy caught me completely off-guard. I was having breakfast, early in the morning, before work, and saw him mooching seeds from a vase of sunflowers we had brought home after a church program. I ran to the bedroom, grabbed the Canon, and fired of a couple of dozen shots through the back door, through the blinds, the whole deal...
Here is one Blessed result...

Canon EOS 60D ,Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM
1/800s f/4.0 at 300.0mm iso320 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Thats a great occasion and photo. The absolute right setting for a goldfinch with the golden colors and light! Excellent!

Yes, Terry, the gold early morning light was amazing.
I wished I had the chance to open the blinds, but the bird was only 4 feet or so beyond the door, and I figured SOMETHING was better than NOTHING.

Fantastic light and detail. Love these little American Goldfinch, I have a feeder for them and sometimes have as many as a dozen hanging off it eating. Great capture.
