This view does not indicate whether the bird has the rufous back that is diagnostic of Rufous Hummingbird. Of the two species only Allen's nest in Monterey Country, but Rufous are passing through in migration at the time this picture was taken. So as with many individuals of either species, this must be listed as "Rufous/Allen's".
