Here's my original comment on this picture, one of the first I took with my first high-quality lens: "My new Canon 300 f4 IS lens, with 1.4x extender, just arrived yesterday. Too busy today to take it for a serious first cruise, but I went out in the back yard to take a couple of test shots to make sure it wasn't a front- or back-focuser. It turns out to be work fine, and then, hey, there were the usual sparrows around the feeder, so I had to see if the IS would let me get handheld shots as I had hoped, something I really never could do with my Tamron 70-300, which really required both good light and a tripod mount for decent pictures. So here's a first handheld, and I expect there will be many more. What a lens!"
