A new re-edit of an old shot. This was the lunar eclipse of 12/10/2011. The moon set from Madison during the partial phase so totality did not begin until after moonset. I calculated where I needed to be to record the moon setting directly behind the capital dome. It turned out this location was a private residence in Monona. I secured permission from the homeowner the week before and was there early on the morning of Dec 10 to record this. Previously I released this shot only as a series of stills. Here I selected five of the series, taken at approximately 3 minute intervals, and edited them together as a time lapse. The first image was taken at about 6:57 AM local and the final at about 7:10 AM. This is a bit of a twist on my more recent lunar eclipse time lapse (from October of 2014) in that it's a much tighter composition and highlights the architecture of Madison's skyline.
