The "Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone" is one of the more impressive Grand Landscape views in the park. This photograph of the 300 foot Lower Falls shows a river almost completely encased in ice. Only in the original 42 MP image, can the water be seen leaving the river through a hole in the ice. When the spring thaw comes and the bears wake up from their long winters slumber, They will often be found near the top of the falls dragging out carrion (like elk and bison) that have frozen to death in the waters.
