The extenders were really designed to work with the big primes which are a whole next level of sharpness when compared to the L zooms. They fit on the zooms and are ok in a pinch but for the ultimate in sharpness you need to pony up and buy the big primes.

WOW! So sharp! How do you get so sharp images using extenders??? I am using my 70-200 1:2.8 L IS + canon 2x Extender and I don't get so sharp images using tripod + remote control + IS on or Off… anyway ;-( Great work! Respect. GMV!
