Male Hummingbird 08_10_05.jpg

I had a day off today and the weather was with me for wildlife photography. We had a nice thin high cloud cover to soften the light. So, I spent a couple of hours this morning trying to get a shot of the male Black-chinned Hummingbird (at least I think it is a black-chinned...any hummingbird experts out there chime in if my identification is incorrect)

Canon EOS 20D ,Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM
1/1000s f/3.2 at 300.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

How does anyone not vote? I am stunned. Ridiculous focus and perfectly lit, too. Forget talking about the 'DOF', that's a given. Perfect photo, IMO.

Cool, but it looks like a purple neck to me. Chuckle. I've never seen any like this our way in NY. Cool.

When we were on vacation in Arkansas a few weeks ago, the state parks had feeders, and we tried to get a GOOD shot of the many hummers that were there, but could not get a shot like THIS......FANTASTIC
