Wanda03_30_05.jpg

This image ends a year of "Picture A Day Of Wanda". We committed to taking a photo each and every day for a year. WE MADE IT!! We now have fulfilled our commitment without missing a single day.

I think I'll take tomorrow off. After that we'll see where we go from here.

I know Wanda has said she would be willing to try to appear at least once a week. I think that's pretty great. I plan on continuing on with a picture a day but without restricting myself to a single subject.

To everyone we say thank you for all your encouragement. It made it all worthwhile. Again thank you.

I remember this day very well! It was FINALLY the last day of our project and of course it was raining hard and windy. The image Bill wanted to take outdoors that day just wasn't possible. So, we had to think of something else to do. I suppose for a subsititue concept thought of at the last minute, it turned alright. I was happy that Bill blurred things as promised and I didn't really feel too exposed.

But I KNEW I wasn't off the hook yet. . . .I knew Bill would be dragging Me out to the salt flats the next day anyway because we were going to be in Salt Lake for the Miata Club luncheon. He couldn't be half way to the salt flats and not at least TRY to get the image he wanted for the official "last picture" of the project. All I could do was cross My fingers and hope the weather would be bad again. (grin)

I have no idea how I missed this.. Excellent.. fraught with emotion and eroticism. A year well done, Bill and Wanda..
Guest 04-Apr-2005 16:54
What can I say.... Most of us didn´t belive in PaD. But dudes, you have made it. The whole idea turn out great. Honestly it will remain in our minds as a part of this small story we´re telling here. Thanks to both of you. Matias.

Congratulations! I've been a great fan and you never ceased to amaze me. Best wishes for a new year.
JW02-Apr-2005 07:23
Congratulations! An extraordinary achievement. PBase is becoming a special place for so many photographers and people like you and Wanda have contributed so much. Your story of Internet fame for an unpublished cowboy in the middle of Utah is inspiration to us all. And thanks for bringing loving sensuality to us in a world torn between porn and intolerence.

Looking forward to your work in the future.
Guest 02-Apr-2005 05:34
Wanda/Bill,
Many thanks, not only for the photographs, but also your humour, sincerity & good nature. As Photographer/Model & a couple you are a huge inspiration.

You have had a whole year working together creating this beautiful album.
It must have been very good for your relationship as well as for your artistic abilities.
I offer you my most hearty congratulations.

I still like the naughty librarian. (August 25th)

All the best to you.

Bill, Wanda,
I am not sure when discovered your PAD, I am pretty sure it was not long after you started.
What a trip the two of you have been on... it has been an inspiration to me and I am sure many others.
A year ago I could not have taken "people shots" to save my life but you have helped me push those boundaries!!

Whatever you do in the future.. I will be looking out for it!!

Best regards
Chris

Hi Bill and Wanda

Thank you both for all of the hard work. I have learnt so much more about photography over the last year.

Thanks again

For the year, for the smiles, for the laughs, for the joy, for the painful pleasure of waiting for a new photo to be posted, I thank the both of you for making this pass year, just that much better.

Paul Pelletier01-Apr-2005 03:31
Thanks to both of you for all these pictures, it's been a great learning experience!
Jim McKinlock01-Apr-2005 02:49
Ahh, this shot explains how you talked Wanda into the new lense. I can hear the coversation now.
B "For the Grand Finale I think we should do the full monty"
W "OK, but if we're gonna do the full monty you have to make sure I'm out of focus."
B "Well OK but for that we need a long tele with a big apurature"

Seriously tho, I can't begin to tell you guys how much I've enjoyed your PAD for the last year. Not only have you shared your photo experience and a beautiful woman with us, thru your comments you have shared your life with us to point I almost feel I know you guys. Thank you so much for sharing all the hard work you both put into this. Has Hef contacted you yet for the women of Pbase yet? I'm still hoping for a Lady G shot? Best Regards Jim

Bill and Wanda, congratulations on the completion of this incredible project. Since I discovered this gallery about 9 months ago I have stopped by every day. I am one of the thousands that stop by every day and never leave a message but appreciate your efforts. I cannot wait to see your next incarnation of a PAD. Steve
Guest 01-Apr-2005 00:40

After 365 days of taking pictures, I would have thought you would have learned how to focus a camera. :)

I stumbled on your site midway through the project and your site make it into my favorites very quickly. I think the most impressive thing is that you always came up with new ideas.

Bernie31-Mar-2005 23:38
Thanks for this past year!! It was great!!!
John Buffin31-Mar-2005 23:22
The biggest tease ever! This shot is so friggin hot, I can't even describe it.
Congrats on a great year of PAD, and on the fact that you are still married. =)
You have got enough great images from this past year to do 7 or 8 Wanda calendars!
Bravo. Both of you.

Fantastic photo and fantastic achievement. Kudos to both of you for your determination and diligence this past year, even in the face of controversy and guest appearances. You both have given inspiration to me and many ameteur protographers out there. I'm glad to hear that you will keep posting your PAD!

cheers,
Vivek

Congratulations on this remarkable achievment - I have to admit that I was very sceptical when I saw you start this assaignment, but not only have you succeeded by delivering one a day for a whole year, but you have done that in a grand style with excellent results !!!
Happy shooting from now on - and my compliments to both of you.
Antonis Sarantos31-Mar-2005 17:42
Very seductive, one of your best pictures so far!!!
Guest 31-Mar-2005 17:34
Congrats you two. You both inspire me to keep going. We only have 307 days to go. Piece a cake. :)

Ray and I started ours as just an everyday, anything pad until we saw your picture's well then our's became a picture a day of Sharon. You inspired me to help Ray became better at his photgraphy. And to to start my own.

We love you guy's. Keep up the Great work.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Bill, you've grown so much as a photographer -- you rock.

Wanda, omg your patience and committment over the year is amazing.

What a spectacular accomplishment for you both.
type31-Mar-2005 16:46
My heartiest congratulations to you both. If you ever were a 'nobody photographer', you're not now nor will be again. It's been a pleasure and good luck to you.
Wm. Bates31-Mar-2005 16:37
Richard, I plan on having my account open here on PBase for a very long time. PBase has been very good to Wanda and I. It give us a way to share our work, thoughts and ideas with a huge audience. Plus I expect in the future that PBase will continue to provide us, the photographers, more benefits and improved options. Thank you Slug and Emily.
Wm. Bates31-Mar-2005 16:30
Last night my lovely wife Wanda and I completed our year long project "Picture A Day Of Wanda" or "Taking It One Day At A Time"... you pick the title.

What a year. One shot taken, processed and then posted each day for 365 consecutive days.

We started this project to help me improve my "people photography" skills. I look back and say I have gotten better. I look at images by photographers here and know I have a long way to go. I will continue to practice.

The project took twist and turns and went places we never dreamed. It took on a strange life of its own. We never expected it to get the attention or gain the popularity...if popularity is the right word...that it seemed to gain. I have always felt that maybe the project was like a NASCAR race or train wrack...people looked in waiting for the crash. No question, we had days when we scrapped up against the wall but we never crashed. The gallery becoming the most popular gallery of all time here on PBase just floors me. There is so many better photography to be found here.

Which brings me to somethings that amaze me. The power of the Internet is truly a wonder. I'm a nobody photographer from the middle of nowhere in a little town in Utah. I have never been published. Other than the local town museum displaying a photo or two, really I never thought anyone would ever see or care about my photography.

With the Internet the world has become very small. At last count we have had viewers of our little project from over 130 countries. We have received emails filled with encouragement, suggestions and questions from all over the world. That just blows me away. We have heard from soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq just saying thanks you for glimpses of home. Again the Internet has made the world small. Our photography has been viewed in places like Faroe Islands which I had to do a goggle search on because I had never heard of them. We had 5.3 million page views during our year. The whole thing blows this ol' cowboy away.

Now to the real reason for the post. That is to say, thanks you to so many here you have been an inspiration. Thank you for your help and encouragement. It helped us not become that train wreck.

And lastly to Wanda. Babe I love you. Really you get all the credit. You worked so hard and put up with it all even when you hated the thought of posing for one more photo. You get all the credit. I just pushed the button. I am so lucky you put up with me. People can I tell you how great Wanda is. For my 50th birthday, which was Monday, she bought me Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS lens that I have been wanting for over a year.

Our closing photo. OK, it is a bit different how often does someone take a photo with a 300mmf/2.8 lens inside??

Again thanks everyone.
Bill

Your year may be over, but my, what a body of work - a legacy if you will - you two have left behind. It occurs to me that studio portrait photographers turn out as much high-quality work as you have, but they are generally working with the same image, day after day; just different faces. An assembly line. You on the other hand have kept up the quality, but with fresh new ideas every day. We never knew what to expect, and it was always good!
I only ask that you keep your Pbase membership current so that PAD Wanda will always be there for the rest of us to refer to for ideas and for technique.

Thanks Kids,
Randu31-Mar-2005 16:17
Congratulations!!!
Wm. Bates31-Mar-2005 16:07
Ken, I'm going to take today off from photography. On April 1st...how appropriate to start PAD on All Fools Day...I will start a much more normal PAD. Wanda has agreed to pose on a once a week schedule, which seems pretty reasonable. So keep checking in.
Wm. Bates31-Mar-2005 16:03
James...We're not telling what the outdoor shot was to be. I'm crossing my fingers that the weather will be in our favor on Saturday. If it looks like it will be, we'll try to get the picture done. I'm hoping for an almost cloudless sky...but most of all NO WIND!
Guest 31-Mar-2005 15:50
If this was the indoor shot, and one of the best tease shots I have seen, what was the outdoor shot?

Thanks for a wonderful year, and I am looking forward to the images in the coming years..

You are such a good photographer I would like to see youu tackle a Photo-a-Day, without Wanda.
Having a subject like Wanda takes some of the pressure off of finding a daily subject to shoot .
It will be a different challenge for you, I hope you will give it a try.
Tanks Bill and Wanda for the year we spent together on-line.
God bless.

*clap* *clap* *clap* Congratulations to the both of you. One of my highlights here on PBase was the opportunity to work with the two of you on the magazine(s). Thanks to both of you! Hope to see many more in the future.

Thanks to both of you, Bill and Wanda. You have made it a fun year on pbase and it has been great getting to know you. Now relax a little and do shots when the muse strikes. I hope we see more of you Wanda, but also some wildlife shots (that Bill does so well), some landscapes, and more shots of your beautiful area. Thanks for all the hard work and wonderful results......and all the best from us.

Congrats to both of you, I will be checking back often. I'm also looking forward to seeing more of Wanda's work BEHIND the camera! Again a well deserved pat on the back to both of you.
Gary Ingram31-Mar-2005 12:34
I looked back through the previous months this week. To myself it seems like it was just a short time ago that I started viewing your project each day. The year has gone very quickly on this end. I am sure it was also a lot of work for both of you. I will miss the daily picture. Wanda, you are a beautiful woman. Bill, great photography.
John S. Nasche31-Mar-2005 12:31
Danged DOF! Bill, couldn't you have used a much shorter lens and shot this at f-11? Damn! LOL! It just didn’t seem right for me, (of all folks), not to tip my hat to the both of you and offer my congratulations and even more, … my heartiest appreciation for your one year commitment and completion. This work has inspired me, not only to take the camera out of the closet, but indeed, to help me once more strive for excellence. A big strong bear hug to the both of you!

Nice work, we've enjoyed watching the photos for the last year. Thanks for posting them.
Guest 31-Mar-2005 12:15
What will we all do tomorrow? Congratulations. A first class project. Somewhere, sometime, would you write a bit on how you managed this effort. There had to have been many days when one or both of you did not want to do a pix. How did you juggle this around work? There has to be an interesting story here. But for now, rest on your well deserve laurels.
Guest 31-Mar-2005 11:48
