In the Creole plantation houses (Creole means a descendant of a person who came to America from France, Germany, the West Indies etc. and does not mean a person of a certain race) Christmas decorations were made from trees, shrubs and flowers grown on the plantation, such as the citrus fruits used in Laura's dining room.
