Pictured above is Shibumi's hot water heater. You may remember our pesky water heater that sprung a leak at the end of March.

We were in the Exumas at the time; not the ideal place to purchase and install a new marine water heater. So we found a 5 gallon solar shower (thanks to Ann and Jim on the sailing vessel "Bee's Knees"). The solar shower warmed water with the rays of the sun and provided ample hot water for our daily showers. We boiled water on the galley's propane stove to wash dishes. Cold water sufficed for everything else.
Now that we are back home, I decided to remove the old heater to make room for a new one. The old one still looks pretty good, for a 15 year-old gadget. But looks don't count... if it is going to take up space on Shibumi it must perform... this one has to go.
