Latin name: Agelaius icterocephalus (Linnaeus, 1766). The bird shown here is a male.
The family Icteridae is a group of about 100 species that include the familiar blackbirds, cowbirds, oropendolas, grackles, orioles and meadowlarks.
They are found throughout the Americas, from Alaska to Cape Horn, and on many Caribbean Islands.
The yellow-hooded blackbird is native to northern South America and Trinidad.
