13th November 2010

Look at that glow through the trees, Dad! Whatever do you think it could be?
Perhaps the squ*rrels have started a bonfire!
Or maybe the aliens have landed?
Better go and check it out don't you think?

Dad: I've finally got the hang of the 60D - the missus pointed me in the right direction by suggesting the metering system might be faulty.
Now that we permanently have at least two thirds of a stop of under-exposure dialled in, the camera performs as I would expect and I am much happier with it!

15th November: just to clarify what I said above about our 60D - I am not remotely suggesting that the camera design as a whole is
flawed, only that our particular camera unit appears to be faulty.

Canon EOS 60D ,Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM
1/1000s f/1.8 at 85.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Wonderful capture of the trees on fire. Nice to hear of your debugging your new 60D.

Hmmmm... What the heck with the 60D? I wonder if it's something inherent in the design or something with your particular camera?

Nice dynamic range - wonder why it is -2/3rd stop?

What a lovely colourful evening photo. So glad Mum sussed out the camera, but how on earth are everyday users expected to deal with the 60D's metering system??

Pooch, watch out - they might be aliens as you said.

Love the terrier lean - ready for anything as long as Dad comes too!

Fulty lightmetering? Do you get it fixed on the warrenty?
We have almost forgotten what the sun looks like too. Just rainy, snowy and very cloudy dull weather here.
