Buddha Under Wraps

The Golden Triangle is an area where Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand meet. This wrapped Buddha is on the bank of the Mekong and is a part of a large monument which will be best viewed from the river. It will appear, when finished, like a large boat with a statue of buddha sitting in it.

yes, this certainly did take 2 looks! quite symbolic...at first glance all i saw was a pile of ugly plastic and scaffolding...i glance back up and the beauty of the Buddha is still shining through.
on confronting this scene i think most travellers would put their cameras away to avoid a shot that may mar an overall image of a picturesque 'exotic' society. i'm glad you didn't. your photos stand out for their expression.

i love having both an initial
impression - interesting composition
texture and color - and then the
surprise of the buddah.

The incongruity of Buddha under wraps comes as a surprise. At first glance we see construction. At second glance we glimpse a deity.
