I fell asleep on the couch last night, and woke up at about 6am to the sound of George Galloway telling Tony Blair that his ghosts have come back to haunt him. I think I must have fallen asleep around 2am, just as the results were beginning to come so thick and fast that the producers of the election special didn't know which outside broadcast unit to go to next. There was no real surprise at all. Labour won my constituency and the election. Whether Tony lasts another five years remains to be seen, but it is looking increasingly like he is damaged goods, and more of a liability than an asset to the party. Politics can be brutal at time - just ask Margaret Thatcher after she was ousted by the party that only two years before she had led to a third absolute majority. Thatcher was in power for ten years: Blair reaches that milestone two years from now - May 2007, when many are suggesting he will move over. So, another five years of Labour government - but perhaps it will be a different Labour government: one that is less arrogant now that they have had their majority slashed by 100 seats to 66 (which is still a hefty majority, when all's said and done). Linda came home from work sharp this evening, since Liam has a friend up and they wanted take away pepperoni pizza for tea. I took the opportunity to steal the car for an hour, ostensibly to go to the DIY store for a radiator key. I actually drove up to Bridgefoot via Pitempton - the first time I have been there since January. What a big difference these five months have made! The early summer / late spring colours are wonderful. The Dighty Burn was running blue and clear - unlike the last time I saw it, when it was flooding and brown. I really need to get out a bit more and make the most of the D70s knack of producing deeply saturated images. Bit of a transformation from the b/w phase I was going through the last time I was at Pitempton!!!

Same place in January
Liam had pepperoni pizza for supper this day last year too!
