Candids are a genre of photography which I don't often partake as I'm one of those guys who just doesn't have the guts to point my camera at people I don't know. However, there is a story behind this one..
Back in the 80's, as a friend and I walked down the street, he saw a "smokin' bod" with long golden locks walking on the other side of the street. A split second later the blonde turns around to look behind and lo and behold, it's a GUY! The same sort of thing happened here..
Sharon and I drove through Amherstburg on our way to Holiday Beach the other day. We stopped at a Tim Horton's for a drink and a donut. Sharon went into the store while I waited in the van.
So, I pick up my camera (as I often do when stopped) to see if there is any wildlife about. As I'm focusing on a green area in the distance (just beyond the cars in the background of this photo), into my frame strolls a rather attractive figure wearing a brownish/tan top and a pair of jeans. I refocus, recompose and begin panning and rattling off shots while she is walking, paying more attention to framing than the age of the subject(s). All of a sudden the realization hits that this is not an adult with a slim, smokin' figure. These ladies are part of a group of about 50 or so high-school students gathering for some event at an arts building of some sort.
After I mentally kicked myself for "checking out" this young lady who strolled across the frame, I was instantly and nostalgically brought back to the 80's and the guy who fooled my friend with his hot bod and long hair..
Isn't it wierd how our perceptions can be fooled, how we kick ourselves for what we see or that we looked too long, once we realize things are not as they seem? Still, the pretty young lady deserves to be today's PAD if for no other reason than to tell this story. :)
Ah well, tomorrow it's back to adults, with a special treat.. Sharon in red!
