Red-tailed Hawk

Westerville, Ohio view map

A Red-tailed Hawk sits at ground level in Sharon Woods Metro Park near Columbus, Ohio.
I was headed to the car after a morning of shooting goldfinch and other birds when I saw
the hawk sitting with its back to me less than 50 feet away. I took a couple of steps to
improve framing and waited for the hawk to turn so I could get a profile. It turned,
I shot, it saw how close I was and headed for the trees.

Excellent detail. Great catch of it turning its head. And now we know why they call it a red-tailed hawk.

Wonderful shot. Great DoF resulting in a razor sharp but isolated image. Well done, Pat
