‘POLICE LINE’

I really don’t know how we got to this point, when the US Capitol has to be closed off from the public for the president’s State of the Union address. I read that several trucker convoys are still on their way to DC to protest federal vaccine and mask mandates, but they aren’t expected to arrive until March 5 and 6. Some of them won’t arrive at all since they were involved in a four-truck crash in Oklahoma in which several people were injured. There is also a “peaceful demonstration” expected on the National Mall this evening.

I had wanted to go out for this shot earlier but couldn’t because of work, but it turned out to be the perfect time since in late afternoon, the Capitol turns a beautiful, pinkish shade.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly
unsharp.

If you want a Union, they should first reunite the people again, although I think it's impossible

Yes, a sad State of the Union.

Our nation is not in a good place right now. This image really conveys a sign of the times where violence and threats of violence are being accepted and endorsed by many as protected political speech. This image serves as a great metaphor for the need to protect democracy.

A sign of the times, or hopefully times past!

Excellent light on this well captured image Helen. Too bad that fencing again has to be erected.

A strong contrast between the lovely soft light and the steel blockade. V

Beautiful light on our Capitol, the fence won't be needed.

I agree with others, the light is beautiful in this shot. But what a sad commentary that fencing has to be erected now. V

A good time of day Helen, and the Capitol is looking lovely, but sad to see the keep out fence here and in your previous image. What a sad world it is lately.
