Penthouse, original brickwork

I like that they made use of the original brickwork in this rooftop office, although I don’t know if that star was part of the building. You often see little stars like this indicating where the joists end on outer walls, but that would have been one gigantic joist!

*******

We attended an open house of the entire Pierce School Lofts building last weekend and were given permission to photograph whatever we wanted.

The Pierce School was built in 1895, bought by the owners in 2000 for $275,000 as a flooded and rodent infested shell and converted to condos in 2005. All the units are for sale, ranging in price from $359,000 to $699,000 for the lower lofts and $3,399,000 for the 9,500 square foot penthouse.

I like the look of the original brickwork, it contrast so nicely with the modern building materials. I definitely could do without the star though.
