Ms. Post wearing a pendant-brooch designed by Cartier London in 1923, an incredible piece of jewelry (pictured below) that contains seven 17th century carved Mughal emeralds, the largest of which bears an inscription that translates as “the servant of Shah Abbas,” in reference to the Persian ruler Abbas II (r. 1633-67).
This painting hangs outside Post’s bedroom on the upper floor of the mansion.
