Bald eagle on the way to the Bird Islands

Cabot Trail, Cape Breton - Nova Scotia

This image was taken onboard a Puffin Tour boat (run by Donelda) on the way to the Bird Islands. The lady who runs the tour has made friends with some of the bald eagles that perch on the cliffs along the route. During each trip she throws a large mackerel into the water and the bald eagle circles the boat and dives for the fish. Quite a treat, both for the eagle and the bird watchers onboard.

Thanks Christina. It is not often I get to see an eagle fly so close.
