nightmare on elm street

the nightmare was the problem of a yellow cast from the sodium vapour lights shining on the huge elm trees...the solution was to convert to mono, perhaps not entirely successfully

In fact, very sucessfully, particularly with the caption! It does look dark, spooky and rather forbidding, deliciously so, however! VV

Powerful result in the conversion. BV!
Mairéad10-Dec-2011 22:28
This certainly looks very spooky and the conversion has an IR appearance to it.

You certainly made a piece of art out of this ordinary street scene. It is really terrific! V

I think very succesful - a every day scene given a real sense of drama in B&W
marie-jose wolff10-Dec-2011 17:39
it's like a scene taken from a thriller ...
the atmosphere is heavy, ominous ...
the trees spread their tentacular branches like a trap. V

A 60´s style do it, like Jerry Cotton comes in his Jag around the corner! V.

Looks almost like IR, lots of tones and details. These street lights are certainly enemies to night photographers.
teachpeace10-Dec-2011 16:21
Excellent result! Almost feels like an interior shot with with that heavy canopy of trees. BV

I agree, this is not only a fine composition and
exposure, David, but a fine conversion as well.
Crisp blacks and clean whites. Super image. V.

Actually I think it looks pretty cool! I agree with mananee - it really does have an IR kind of appearance. I would love to see more like this. ~V~

LIke this, looks like an IR. Wonderful tonal contrast in this everyday suburban scene with cars lined up and parked on the curbside fallen autumn leaves.
