stream of time

while contemplating this conversion my mind floated back along the stream of time to an autumn day 6 or 8 years ago when I went for a walk around the neighbourhood...I had quickly grabbed one of the film cameras to take some pix of the seasonal colours, with 15 or 20 shots finished off the roll, and upon returning home decided to unload the film and then drop it off at the lab...only to discover that it was a black and white emulsion in that camera!!

The clocks are a digital representation of the instant, while the stream of lights is an analog of the constant progression of time. Lovely symbolism in B&W. V

But that is the exciting thing about films that gives you a buzz that you will never get from digital. I like this image with the lights leading you up to the top of the tree, and that clock is so 60's!

Well, I can enjoy this in B&W or...I can imagine it in resplendent color with pinpoints of streaming red white and green lights. I do like the various glows -- around the large clocks, on the flowing flag, and on the far left window/door. Nice that your mind could play with parallel images so temporally far apart.

This is very effective in b&w as it adds an abstract quality and the viewer focuses on the patterns, rather than the colors. "V"
