mercury rising

since the Spanish Lieutenant Jose Maria Narvaez first (Captain George Vancouver arrived a year later) sailed into the mouth of the Fraser River in July of 1791, Vancouver has been on European’s charts and radar...settlement began in 1827...soon after climatic observations began...but today, 29 July 2009, has been officially designated Vancouver’s hottest day ever...33.8C at the airport (on a breezy island atypical of the region's actual conditions) weather station...yet clearly even hotter on the city’s west side…in suburban Dunbar the heat was berserk...the back porch thermometer this evening reads 39C/ nudging 102F...sleeping is out of the question...chilled Pinot Grigio is an option...water even moreso...only cucumber is on the menu...and the mercury is still rising

You can keep that weather...I am sure I would collapse....A similar thermometer sitting here on my desk reads 10C....I can always add another jumper!!!!!!

Today our outside thermometer went over 45 C. It's 113 F. Hope it's going to go to an end soon!

A meteorologist would take issue with your exposure, but too hot is too hot, whatever the numbers! Go and find a parasol and an ice-cream :o))

Its been very wet here. One of our underpasses was flooded the other day and cars were stuck for hours. Right now the readout on my PC says 23C and its sunny. Pinot Grigio would do just fine.

The pinot grigio route sounds like it might be productive! Rapid climatic shifts seem to be the norm these days. We have just completed, I hope, a devastating cycle of drought years in the deep south. Hope your heat wave remits soon.

Wow, now that's hot. It's only in the low 80's here and we're 1,500 miles south of you. The weather really has gone beserk. Hope things cool down for you soon.

Although 39C does not seem so hot for me, but climate change has occurred here as well; we used to have temperatures around and above 40C in this time of year, but sometimes it reduced down to around 30 suddenly! these are all consequences of our selfishness in our relations with nature.

Meanwhile, we've had a record cold July here. I think we got our weather patterns mixed up. Hope you soon get some break from the extreme heat. I know how miserable it can be.
