Built in early 1970's, this is a very novel hotel with an interior like a ships'. The rooms are called cabins. Tangalle Bay was very hip with the European crowd until the late 90's, when the tourists shifted to the SW coast, closer to Colombo. Loads of deja vu character, it's become tacky and run down, but cheap. I stayed one night too many.
